In 1992, Zhan Chunxin, then vice president of the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute, which is under the Chinese Ministry of Construction, and seven employees, with backgrounds in national science and technological system reform, established the ZOOMLION Construction Machinery Industry Company, an application-oriented research institute. This was the predecessor of ZOOMLION Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., and was located in the Changsha High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
